Job Description

The Andolfatto Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist to take part in several collaborative projects which aim to understand the evolutionary processes shaping genome evolution. We are seeking a wet and dry lab scientist with a passion for solving complex open-ended problems.

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

Generate and analyze new datasets (whole-genome and whole-transcriptome sequencing).

Field collections and animal crosses in a controlled lab environment.

Assisting other laboratory scientists with wet lab protocols and with the analysis of RNAseq and WGS data.


Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in evolutionary biology, genomics or a related field
Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas with co-workers
Experience with NGS wet lab protocols and analysis

Experience with R, Python and Unix

Preferred qualifications:

Familiarity with population genetic theory and commonly used pipelines

Experience simulating large datasets

Familiarity with biological annotation and omics resources
