Position Summary:
The Materials and Structures Laboratory (MatSLab) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher Associate with expertise in concrete materials to join a funded research project led by Dr. Matthew P. Adams and Dr. Matthew J. Bandelt. The project will focus on developing readily deployable low carbon concrete mixtures for use in the New York City metro region. The postdoctoral researcher's main goal will be to oversee the experimental testing program associated with the work that is to be conducted in the MatSLab. To achieve this goal, the postdoctoral research will have to coordinate with suppliers to get materials, schedule and organize concrete mixtures and testing programs, and work with other local laboratories that will be completing some long-term testing in their own labs. This work will include overseeing a team of research assistants in the laboratory.

Essential Functions:
- Lead the preparation, execution, and analysis of the experimental portion of the project in collaboration with the two PIs.
- Contribute to or lead laboratory publications and conference submissions.
- Act as a mentor to diverse and ambitious graduate and undergraduate students working in the MatSLab.
- Liaise with partners at other universities and agencies working on the same research project.
- The functions of the successful candidate will mainly focus on the goals of the funded research project, however there will be opportunities to develop independent projects and participate in other ongoing research.

Additional Functions:
- The successful candidate will receive direct guidance in mentoring students, the development of new scientific skillsets, and career planning.
- Opportunities will be available for guest lectures in the classroom.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or Materials Science/Engineering with an emphasis on cement based materials.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
