We are looking for passionate and caring PRN Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to join our team of skilled professionals and provide health care services to our veterans and their families at Keller Army Community Hospital in the beautiful Hudson River Valley in West Point, New York.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • PRN support coverage
  • On-call weekend coverage: At LEAST one weekend per month

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage patient anesthesia experience, perform preoperative evaluations and preparations, administer monitored anesthesia care, regional and general anesthesia, monitor and manage patient reactions to anesthesia and surgery, manage fluid therapy, perform and manage invasive monitoring, and perform postoperative evaluations as privileged by the credentials committee.
  • Advise appropriate anesthesiologist of adverse reactions necessitating non-delegated medical decisions; take appropriate actions as directed or required.
  • Assist with the training of other staff personnel to include in venipuncture and intravenous therapy, respiratory care, and anesthesia.
  • Indicate responsibility for the contents and accuracy of all prepared reports/forms by affixing his/her own signature to the documents after validation.
  • Attend and participate in professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities.
  • Department quality improvement activities as assigned by the department chief may include, but not limited to:
  • Occurrence screening checklist
  • Patient care chart audits
  • Special studies on quality of care within the Anesthesia Service
  • Non-clinical duties will include, but is not limited to:
  • Maintaining cleanliness of anesthesia work areas and equipment
  • Rotation of stock and removal of supplies nearing expiration
  • Reviewing and updating of departmental operating instructions
  • Hospital committee representation
  • Orientation of personnel
Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) (Copy of certification required) with at least 3 years' experience.
  • Must have HSPD-12.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing, approved by a legally designated state accrediting agency and hold current registration as a registered professional nurse. Copy of certification and license required.
  • Be a graduate of an approved program of nurse anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Program and Schools or its predecessor.
  • Licensure: possess current, active, valid, unrestricted license in at least one U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, Territory, or jurisdiction.
  • Prior to the expiration of their CRNA certification, be re-certified by the Council on Re-certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Health and immunization requirements: annual physical; annual TB test; annual influenza; MMR; varicella; Hepatitis B.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Must follow site required health screening and immunization requirements.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and speak English in order to communicate with all patients and other healthcare providers.
  • Possess evidence of continuing nursing education which maintains skills and knowledge in the nursing specialty.
  • Shall possess current certification in American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) at the time of employment. Certifications shall be maintained in a current status at all times.
