Responsibilities

TRC Companies, Inc., a pioneer in groundbreaking scientific and engineering developments since the 1960's, is a national engineering and environmental consulting firm that provides integrated services to the energy, environmental and infrastructure markets. TRC serves a broad range of clients in industry and government, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation.

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse?Gas Utility Inspector Interns?for our DoD SkillBridge program. This is temporary position operating within in the guidelines established under the DoD SkillBridge requirements. Anticipated duration is six months (based on eligibility). This position has the?potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon successful completion of the SkillBridge program. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of experienced TRC Gas Inspection leads.

Overview:

  • Performs direct oversight of Applicant or Contractor installed facilities limited to plastic distribution systems and smaller underground projects to ensure compliance with job drawings and specifications, and Company standards and specifications over the entire Company territory.
  • Maintains an organized and complete set of records and procedures for the project
  • Assist with maintaining the as-built drawings for change order updates and assists project lead in ensuring field staff updates as-built drawings as required.
  • Assists the project lead in preparing final project closeout documents, including the resolution of potential claims.
  • Become familiar with gas utility inspection processes and procedures
  • Read and interpret design drawings to understand engineering design and confirm intent.
  • Must have strong natural gas inspection fundamental understanding.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement.
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
  • API 1169 Certification
  • NACE Level II Certification
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with ASME B31.8
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail orientated person.
  • Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to client sites.
  • Willing to work overtime and travel out of town weekly.
  • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
