Director, Assistant Controller
Description
- Manages and coordinates domestic and international accounting functions and ensures timely completion of financial close process and timely production of accurate financial statements each month
- Monitors the completeness of journal entries/inputs for consolidation and the related reconciliations and analytics that support the ledger on a monthly and quarterly basis to ensure appropriate controls
- Manages a team responsible for:
- Cash, accounts receivable, investments, prepaid expenses, debt, leases, accruals, fixed assets, payroll accounting, intercompany and other general accounting areas
- Monthly financial close of the general ledger and consolidation system including translation of foreign entities
- Prepares and/or review journal entries, and balance sheet and income statement variance analyses
- Reviews accounts payable reconciliations and approves large payments to ensure accuracy of coding and appropriate approval
- Oversee the financial general ledger applications, consolidations, and planning systems for global legal entities and ensure timely close of subledgers and ledgers, data validation and documentation
- Assists with the monthly revenue and related gross to net adjustments including rebates, chargebacks, returns reserve, admin fees, etc. for EXPAREL, ZILRETTA and iovera◦
- Timely completes all monthly close activities, including posting of journal entries with related documentation, and strives to create efficiencies
- Supports quarterly and annual SEC financial reporting requirements including financial statements, notes and Management’s Discussion and Analysis
- Reviews customer contracts for EXPAREL, ZILRETTA and iovera°, including commercial discount, tier pricing and GPO agreements. Managing the sales contract review process for Finance to help structure contract terms that adhere to revenue recognition policies
- Participates in the annual audit and ensure that all finance and accounting policies, practices and procedures are consistent with GAAP and SEC requirement
- Support the internal SOX and external audit requirements, coordinating where possible to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Responsible for issuing the monthly Profit Review reporting process
- Responds to various ad hoc data and research requests as needed
- Serves as backup to the Controller on other accounting and financial functions as needed
- BS/BA degree in Accounting required from an accredited college/university and advanced business or accounting degree preferred
- CPA required
- 10+ years of relevant accounting experience
- 5+ years of direct management experience
- Current knowledge of GAAP, general accounting, and a deep understanding of revenue accounting requirements, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
- Knowledge of and experience in managing systems
- OneStream Software experience a plus
- Knowledge of and experience in internal accounting controls, audit risk assessment, control documentation, and audit testing
- Demonstrated excellent analytical abilities and effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work in a supportive team environment
