Position Summary
We are seeking five students to tour the nation (virtually) and collect data on pedestrian infrastructure. We are conducting a nationwide study of built environment and urban design risk factors for pedestrian fatalities and will be collecting observational data using Google Street View at locations where pedestrians were killed and at control locations. We are looking for detail oriented students interested in public health, urban design, and/or injury epidemiology to join our team and conduct virtual neighborhood audits and collect data on risk factors for pedestrian injury. We will provide training in the theory and practice of neighborhood audit methods (aka Systematic Social Observation) and in conducting audits using virtual environment tools. This is a multidisciplinary research team that includes epidemiologists, urban sociologists, and geographers. There will be opportunities for students to co-author research papers based on the work.
The positions are for 10 hours per week, there is the option to work in-person, hybrid or remotely with weekly team meetings on Zoom.

Minimum Qualifications
High-school degree and currently enrolled in an undergraduate program.
Successful applicants will be: 1) detail oriented; 2) able to work independently; and 2) have access to a computer and internet.
